Breakers

Our breaker and relay test process compares the performance of your equipment to manufacturer’s maintenance specifications. In addition to testing, our technicians perform on-the-spot repairs such as:

Cleaning cubicles
Burnishing and adjusting contacts

Retrofitting trip unit
Repairing faulty subassemblies More extensive repairs are performed by returning the faulty item to Jai Electricals or on a subsequent site visit.

Transformer Oil Filtration

Oil impurities are one of the major causes of transformers deterioration. To avoid transformer failure, your insulating oil should be free from any contamination, dirt and moisture. Thus, transformer oil filtration process is needed.

Installations:

Vacuum Fills and On-Site Dry-Out Jai Electricals’s vacuum fill process ensures that a new transformer is thoroughly dehydrated prior to being put into service. The steps in the vacuum fill process are:

A pressure test to ensure the vacuum integrity of the transformer
A 24-hour (or other time as directed by the customer) vacuum hold at less than 1 mm to draw moisture from the core and coil.
If desired, the transformer may be filled with dry Nitrogen and held under pressure for 12 to 24 hours to allow a dew point test to be performed to verify that the desired moisture level has been achieved.
If desired, the oil can be dehydrated while in tank trailers prior to filling
The oil is passed through Jai Electricals dehydration system where it is further heated and vacuum dehydrated.

The transformer is kept under vacuum while it is being filled slowly with hot oil.
This evaporates additional residual moisture.
If desired, vacuum may be held for several hours after the oil fill is completed.
On-Site dry out is accomplished by circulating hot oil while the transformer is under vacuum. A cold trap is used to measure the amount of moisture removed from the transformer.

Installation & Acceptance Testing

Jai Electricals experienced crews and licensed High Voltage Electricians are capable of installing, dressing and acceptance testing of transformers and switchgear, large or small. Jai Electricals has a crane truck for equipment up to 5 Ton and rents a crane for larger installations. We also have tankers and transformer oil treatment equipment for any size job.

Relays and Circuit Breakers

Preventive maintenance strategies that identify and cure potential problems Before they affect operation or longevity. The cornerstones of Jai Electricals preventive program are oil sampling, electrical test and visual inspection. Together, these three methods provide the information to analyze the condition of your transformer and switchgear and to determine the steps needed to assure reliability and top performance.

Electrical Testing

Electrical tests accurately measure these important values:

Insulating value of insulation (DC Megger)
Resistive and Capacitive loss (DC Hipot)
Power Factor (tests of transformers & bushings)
Relationship of primary and secondary voltages (TTR)
Trip levels and accuracy of relays and low, medium and high voltage circuit breakers

Test results

Test results are compared to manufacturer’s specifications and/or performance standards set by IS, and establish a baseline for comparison with future tests. Repairs or calibration needed to bring equipment into specification can be easily identified, and post repair testing assures that proper corrective action has been taken. In many cases, testing identifies the need for simple repairs and adjustments that preclude costly repairs and downtime in the future Tests Performed.

The suite of tests include the following:

Dielectric Absorption
Insulation resistance test, winding-to-winding and winding-to-ground.
Turn to Turn Ratio Test: to determine actual vs. calculated voltage
Power Factor Test: to assess condition of electrical insulation in high voltage apparatus
Breaker and relay tests of contact resistance, conductivity, insulation resistance, current and /or voltage trip levels
Test Report and Analysis
After the test program is completed, a test report is compiled and submitted to our customer. The test report presents the actual data taken at the customer’s site and the results of any calculated values. Out of specification conditions are highlighted and
maintenance recommendations are presented.
